blueMoon, in partnership with the Australian Embassy, invites techies, game-changers, doers, curious learners, passionate and dynamic innovative entrepreneurs to apply to the Social Enterprise Challenge, and to join our next batch, #KiremtBatch19.  We are looking for social entrepreneurs addressing a broad set of social problems related to rural livelihoods, environment, and agribusiness, including waste, alternative energy, climate-smart, financial inclusion, nutrition, health, data services, logistics, and more.  Selected entrepreneurs will get 6 months of intensive incubation followed by 6 months of post-incubation support, business services, and access to strategic and angel investors.

What you get

  • A 6-month on-site program in our offices with required attendance 5 days per week for at least 2 co-founders for the first 2 months; and 3 days per week from the 3rd month

Requirements

Team

  • At least 2 co-founders who can participate on full-time basis in the 6-month program.
  • All co-founders must reside in Ethiopia.
  • The majority of co-founders must be below age 30.
  • At least 50% co-founders must be Ethiopian or of Ethiopian origin (diaspora).
  • All co-founders must be able to read and write and speak English.
  • Co-founders must own the majority of the shares of the company.
  • Co-founders must be able to finance ETB 20,000 for their company capital, required at beginning of the incubator.
  • blueMoon will be allocated 10% shares in return for incubation services.
  • Preference is given to teams with female co-founders and teams who have previously worked together and for teams with a prototype or minimum viable product.

Business Idea

Your business must be based on an idea that is

  • innovative
  • scalable and
  • positively impacts people’s livelihoods, social welfare, and/or the environment.

The Application Period closes at midnight on November 8th, 2019.  We will contact you by November 14 ONLY IF you are selected for the final round selection at Game Day on November 16. The incubator program will start on MONDAY December 2, 2019 and end on April 24, 2020.
