ABOUT US
Green Building is comprised of co-founders Endalkachew Fentahun and Mesrak Berhanu. Endalkachew was inspired to build construction materials after enrolling in construction courses during his time as an architecture student at Addis Ababa University’s Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction, and City Development (EiABC).
OUR PRODUCT
Green Building designed and tested composite boards made purely of agricultural waste products such as bamboo residue, rice husks, wheat straw, cotton stalks and banana stems. A well managed blend of these and other by products have come together to create construction material boards commonly knows and MDF boards. These are used in furniture, interior walls, ceiling boards and much more. With a growing demand for construction and furniture materials this product seeks to become an import substitute in construction materials and create more affordable building materials for the dramatic urbanization of Ethiopia.
OUR MARKET
Green Building’s main targets are the building construction industry, packaging and forwarders, households, government agencies, and the furniture industry.
WHY GREEN BUILDING?
With a growing demand for construction and furniture materials this product seeks to become an import substitute in construction materials and create more affordable building materials for the dramatic urbanization of Ethiopia. There is a stark need for environmentally friendly, high-quality, and low-cost building materials produced locally. This creates employment, lowers housing building costs, reduces agricultural wastage, increases farmer incomes, and reduces foreign exchange constraints for imported building materials.
